George A. Fahlund

 Bassist, Educator, native Texan. Mr. Fahlund, was born and raised in Austin, Texas. He started playing double bass at the age of seven as a student in the University of Texas  String Project. Mr. Fahlund is an alumnus of The University of Texas at Austin where he studied Lower Strings with both Dr. David Neubert and Mrs. Phyllis Young. Mr. Fahlund is a University of Texas String Project faculty Alumni. Mr. Fahlund currently lives in San Antonio, Texas with his wife and is the professor of double bass at the University of the Incarnate Word. As a professional musician, Mr. Fahlund has performed with: San Antonio Philharmonic Orchestra, SA Harmonie, The Dallas Opera, Austin Symphony Orchestra, Mid-Texas Symphony Orchestra, Central Texas Philharmonic, Zachary Scott Theatre, Austin Playhouse, Zilker Theatre Productions.. As a music educator, Mr. Fahlund’s students have consistently received top chairs and superior ratings at both TMEA and UIL sanctioned events. Mr. Fahlund has trained over sixty young bassist to become TMEA All State performers. Of those sixty, seven of them have been first chair/principal. He has been a featured lecturer at the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Orchestra Directors Association and is a proud member of the following organizations: International Society of Bassists, American String Teachers Association, Texas Music Educators Association and the American Federation of Musicians, Local 23.
